MUSIC
All competitors must use music that they have the rights to license to the WJF for use on any broadcast medium and home video. Royalty free music can be found on a variety of websites. NO GARAGE BAND, SOUNDTRACK, or any other royalty free loop program may be used to create competition routine music. Music must either be purchased off of royaltyfreemusic.com, a similar royalty free music website that will allow the license to be transferred to the WJF, or composed by a musician with the proper music license forms filled out and submitted (They are available below). Music must not be one or two bars that loop for 3 minutes but must actually contain the elements present in professionally produced songs and sound like a professional piece of music. Vocals are not recommended. Music that does not fit this criteria may be rejected. For music composed independent of a music providing website, both forms below must be filled out and submitted to the WJF no later than December 1st, 2008. All music must be submitted in a digital format through email along with the proper licensing agreement no later than December 1st, 2008. Competitors must each provide their own music. No sharing of the same music between competitors is allowed. No music that has been used in previous years will be allowed at WJF 5. Music must be presented on the first day of the event on CD in a CD playable format. (No MP3 formated files please). Please bring two copies of your music on CD to WJF 5. Isolated
Endurance
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
The isolated endurance competitions are designed to test the competitors in their pattern stability. The competitors compete on top of narrow platforms. 7 balls, 7 rings, 7 clubs and 5 club backcrosses are the 4 competitions that comprise the isolated endurance. 7 balls and 7 rings are done in one round where all the competitors start juggling at the same time. The competitor who juggles the longest without dropping or stopping wins 1st place. 2nd and 3rd place scores will be awarded provided that 2nd or 3rd place is not also last place (This will be explained in further detail later on in this section). The Isolated Club and 5 Club Backcross Competitions are all done individually giving each competitor 5 tries each and scored based upon the highest amount of catches. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are all awarded points provided that 2nd and 3rd place are not also last place. In the event that a competitor comes in 2nd or 3rd place and also last place, they will only be awarded points if they qualified the pattern regardless of how many catches is required to win first place which does not need to qualify the pattern, but just needs to make more catches than any of the other competitors. To get points while coming in last place, you need to qualify the pattern and come in 2nd or 3rd place.
1 point for 1st place, .5 points for
2nd, .25 points for third place in each category
Endurance
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
There are three different competitions in the Overall Championship Endurance Event. Balls, rings and clubs. The ball and ring events each start off at eight objects. 7 clubs is the starting level for the club competition. Each competitor will be given 10 attempts in a row to get their best run in each event. The competitor with the most amount of catches with the highest number of objects in each category is the winner for that category. To receive points for 2nd or 3rd place, the competitors must at least qualify the pattern.
1 point for 1st place, .5 points for
2nd, .25 points for third place in each endurance competition
360s
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
There are 4 competitions in the 360s event:
3 Clubs
5 Balls
6 Rings (Must be done asynch, either crossing or non crossing)
5 Clubs
Each competition gives the competitors one minute to get as many 360s as they can manage with all the objects in the air. For 3 objects, all three must be in the air during the spin, for 5 objects, all 5 must be in the air. For 6, all 6 must be in the air. A 360 counts once all the objects are caught after the 360. The competitor may choose to collect all the objects after the 360, or start another 360 and the previous 360 will count after the spin of the following 360. In the event of a drop when attempting a subsequent 360, the competitor must either qualify the pattern or spin before dropping for the previous 360 to count. Competitors are free to try 720s or 1080s under all the objects, and each spin will count toward the final score, but the most consistent technique will render the highest amount of 360s overall. If time is called after the last 360 is attempted but before the objects are caught, the last 360 counts provided that the competitor makes the remaining catches. The competitor who completes the most amount of 360s within their alloted time will be the winner for that competition.
1 point for 1st place, .5 points for
2nd, .25 points for third place in each 360s competition
Freestyle
Events
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
* If you plan on competing in the freestyle competition, you must submit the moves you plan on doing in each freestyle event by December 1st, 2008. You may email your list of moves to WJF5@thewjf.com. Video demonstrations may be required. You will be informed if video of your moves are needed.
The WJF Freestyle event gives the competitors a chance to try moves that may take more than one, two, or three tries to do. Categories include:
5 Balls
6 Balls
7 Balls
5 Rings
6 Rings
7 Rings
5 Clubs
6 Clubs
7 Clubs
Each competitor will have five tries per category and alternates attempts with the other competitors in their round. There are no penalties or deductions in this event. You only get credit for the moves the judges feel you executed successfully. The winner of each category will be determined by which move the judges feel was the most difficult and original. Moves are judged on the average of 75% difficulty, 25% originality. All move values will be determined in advance. Competitors may try as many different moves as possible however only their highest scoring move will count. This is not an accumulative score. The competitor who executed the highest scoring move in each event, wins that event.
1 point for 1st place, .5 points for
2nd, .25 points for third place in each Freestyle competition
3 Club 1 Minute Freestyle Competition
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
Competitors will have one minute to execute as many of their most difficult and original 3 club moves and connections. Deductions will be given for drops only. The competitor with the most difficult and original moves with the fewest drops will most likely score the highest. There is no music required for this competition. Competitors do not need to submit routine forms for this competition. Routine values will be determined during prelims.
1 point for 1st place, .5 points for
2nd, .25 points for third place
The WJF Triathlon
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
All competitors must execute the following moves in the least amount of time. Competitors may choose the order in which they attempt each move, and may use assistants to acquire additional props and / or prop transitions. There will be no deductions. The judges will determine if the competitors successfully executed the required moves. The competitor who executes all the required moves in the best time will win. There is no music or routine forms required for this competition.

Advanced Ball,
Ring, and Club Programs
This is an Advanced Competitor Competition. All uniform requirements for Advanced Competitors applies in this competition
The full programs for balls, rings and clubs can score as high as 10 points each. In each competition, competitors can do a maximum of 30 moves. The minimum amount of objects in each competition is as follows:
5 balls for the ball competition
5 rings for the ring competition
4 clubs for the club competition
Each category has a 3 minute time limit. There is no grace period. In the full programs there are two sets of judges. The A-Jury and the B-Jury. The A-Jury determines what your moves and connections are worth, and if you executed them successfully. The B-Jury takes deductions for unnecessary foot movements, uneven and sloppy patterns, collisions, drops, and falling down. After 3 minutes is up, the A-Jury will no longer award any points, but the B-Jury will continue to take deductions. This is to encourage the competitors to know when to stop, and not continue after time is announced.
Shoes, socks, and the correct uniform are mandatory in all events.
All music and routine forms must be submitted through email to the following email address by December 1st, 2008:
WJF5@thewjf.com
Uniforms must be acquired by this time as well and a photo of the competitor in the uniform must be emailed to the same email address.
To save time and to be as clear as possible, routine forms should be submitted with a video of the competitor demonstrating the routine. The video and form will be reviewed and if not accepted, reasons will be given and instructions provided as to how to modify the routine to make it valid. Competitor routine templates are available here:
The best way to get a high scoring routine is to connect as many moves as possible which will get you connection bonus points. Each individual move can be done a total of two times each, as long as one of the times is done in connection with another move. For example, you can do a 5 up 360 by itself, and then you can do a 5 up 360 connected to overhead throws and you'll get points for both 5 up 360s plus the connection to overhead throws. You can't do a 5 up 360, and then another 5 up 360 unless it's connected to the previous one or another move. Connections contain ZERO basic throws in between moves and connect two dissimilar moves. That's the rule for all connections. Moves that are connected to similar moves will not get a connection bonus as high or at all as connections that are made from completely different patterns. For example, connecting a shower pattern to a high low shower pattern would not score as a connection but a shower connected a blind catch would. A 5 ball 6x4 5 up 360 that resumes 6x4 is not a connection, but a 6x4 5 up 360 that goes directly into 64x is a connection. The greater the difficulty and contrast in connected moves, the higher the connection bonus and more likely you are to get one. Keep in mind that if you do the same move two times, that also counts as two moves applied toward your 30 move limit. The value of each individual move as well as the connection value is decided by the judges after the routine form is submitted. Bonus points may also be awarded for moves choreographed to the music if the judges feel that the choreography demonstrated a high enough level of skill in the competitor's ability to do the move at the precise moment they planned. Finishing moves may also be awarded bonus points such as a 7 ring pull down 360 pancake neck catch.
Club Balancing
A total of two different club balance moves may be incorporated into the junior compulsory, intermediate, women's and advanced club programs. To incorporate a club balance while juggling, the club must start out as part of a juggling pattern consisting of no less than the following for each division:
3 Clubs for the Juniors
4 Clubs for all higher divisions
The club must then be placed or thrown to a balance while the juggling continues. For the junior competitors, the club may be placed or thrown from a 3 club juggle and then the juggling can stop while maintaining the balance. The balance must be demonstrated for a minimum of 3 seconds before dropping back into the juggling pattern. Club balances may only be done within club patterns. Clubs may not be balanced with balls or rings.
Head Bouncing a Ball
A total of two different head bouncing moves may be incorporated into the junior compulsory, intermediate, women's and advanced ball programs. To incorporate bouncing a ball on your head while juggling, the ball must start out as part of a juggling pattern consisting of no less than than the following for each division:
3 Balls for the Juniors
4 Balls for Women's and Intermediate
5 Balls for Advanced
The ball must then be thrown to a continuous bounce while the juggling continues. Head bouncing a ball may only be done within ball patterns. Head bouncing a ball cannot be done with club or ring patterns.
Ring Balancing
A total of two different ring balance moves may be incorporated into the junior compulsory, intermediate, women's and advanced club programs. To incorporate a ring balance in the ring program, the ring must start out as part of a juggling pattern consisting of no less than the following for each division:
3 Rings for the Juniors
4 Rings for Women's and Intermediate
5 Rings for Advanced
The ring must then be placed or thrown to a balance while the juggling continues. For the junior competitors, the ring may be placed from a 3 ring juggle and then the juggling can stop while maintaining the balance. The balance must be demonstrated for a minimum of 3 seconds before dropping back into the juggling pattern. Ring balances may only be done within ring patterns. Rings may not be balanced with balls or clubs.
Qualifying Moves
Most moves are required to qualify the pattern either during or after the move. For example, a 360 must reenter a non multiplexed pattern for a qualifying run. A site swap generally must qualify the pattern within the run of the site swap. Some easier site swaps must be repeated multiple times from each side to score points, and some more difficult site swaps only need to be done once from one side. For example, a 5 ball 97531 must be done four continuous times to receive points. A 7 ball DB97531 only needs to be done once. You will be informed how many throws are required after you submit your routine form.
Intermediate
Competitions
The intermediate event is scored similarly to the Advanced Competition Full Programs with the exception of the Ball and Ring Competitions starting at 4 balls and 4 rings as opposed to 5 and 3 clubs as opposed to 4. The 30 move limit and 3 minute time limit is still in effect. All music licenses and routine forms must be submitted through email to the following email address by December 1st, 2008:
WJF5@thewjf.com
Uniforms must be acquired by this time as well and a photo of the competitor in the uniform must be emailed to the same email address for documentation and verification.

Competitors may do more difficult versions of these moves or replace compulsory moves with more difficult moves to receive higher points. Replacing moves requires approval after submitting your routine form. Substitutions still require a minimum of the compulsory amount of moves to be completed in each prop category. For example, ten moves must be done with rings regardless of how many ball or club substitutions you've made. A perfectly executed compulsory routine will score 7.0 points. Deductions will be taken for form errors, unnecessary foot movement, and drops. Bonus points will be awarded for more difficult substitutions, connections, and choreography to the music if the choreography demonstrates significant control of difficult move execution timing. All music and routine forms must be submitted through email to the following email address by December 1st, 2008:

The Women's Division competitions is scored similarly to the Advanced Full Program, with the exception that the ball and ring competitions will start at 4 balls and 4 rings and clubs will start at 3 clubs. Other than the mandatory minimum number of objects per category, there is no minimum difficulty required to enter prelims. The finals will consist of the top competitors determined during prelims. There is a 30 move and 3 minute time limit still in effect. Juggling combined with gymnastics moves will be scored based upon the number of objects being juggled, the number and pattern of objects in the air while completing the move, and the difficulty of incorporating the gymnastic move(s) within the juggling pattern. Juggling patterns must continue for a qualifying run after the gymnastic move is completed.
Transitions into the splits will be awarded points if completed while juggling a minimum of 5 objects. After the splits is achieved, the juggling pattern must continue for a minimum of a qualifying run.

Beginner's
Competition
This class is open to all ages and is for those who feel they are not qualified to compete in the junior or intermediate class. There is no prize money or air time on the line for the winners, the only prize is bragging rights and an ego boost. Balls, rings, and/or clubs may be used in this competition.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifying a five ball basic pattern is required to enter.
Move minimum is a three ball basic pattern. If a competitor has a difficult three object move they want to use, they may incorporate it within their routine.
Maximums:
(To keep the competition fair)
• 3 clubs
No moves with four clubs or higher will be allowed
• 5 rings
No five ring moves or runs of six rings or higher are allowed
• 6 ball qualify
If a competitor can run six objects for a long time, they cannot
enter the competition. Please be honest :)
Scoring System:
The A-Jury determines the competitor's start value and the B jury deductions points for errors.
The time limit for this competition is 3 minutes
A Jury Rules:
Moves are scored from a 0-5 point scale based on technical difficulty.
Connection bonuses are awarded for moves that are connected with no more than one set up throw. Judges will score connections based upon their apparent difficulty. Connections that are made with NO SET UP THROWS will score higher. There is no limit to the amount of moves a competitor can connect however each move may only be scored twice and only a second time if done in connection with another move.
Full point value is scored for a move no matter how many attempts are made. However, points are deducted by the B jury for each failed attempt. After three failed attempts, the deductions from the judges will most likely negate any points the competitor would get from the succesful execution of the move.
B Jury Rules:
Points will be deducted on a scale of 1-5, depending on how large of an error is made.
The cause for point deductions are as follows:
1. Collisions
2. Foot movement / bad form (shuffling steps/bad arm position in the minor cases, to walking around and excessive reaching in major cases. Each individual step
counts as a deduction.)
3. Bad Patterns (exceedingly uneven throw heights, or off timing will count as a single bad pattern block, not as five throws with a bad pattern)
4. Drops (Per drop event. If you drop every single object you're trying to juggle, there will be an additional penalty. So at least try to hold on to one of
whatever you're trying to juggle)
5. Loss of balance (falling, stumbling [counts as one stumble, not as
five stumbling steps]
To Compete:
Competitors first have to make a set of (maximum) 30 moves they will attempt in the competition. Since this is primarily a ball competition, at least 15 of those moves must be with balls, the other 15 can be spread between rings, balls, and clubs. They will be handed in to the judges on the first day of the competition, and the moves will be given point values by the judges. After prelims, competitors will be given a total point value for their routine. The moves listed will have a cutoff difficulty level of five points per move, where every move that is more difficult will count for the same five point maximum.
During Competition:
Moves that have been scored in the competitor's planned program are the only moves that will be given points on the day of competition. If a competitor does a move not on the list, it will not be scored. They can execute a maximum of 30 moves within the three minutes allocated for their routine, and must be the moves they've submitted for their routine.
Competitors do not need uniforms or music for the Beginner's Competition. However if they choose to use music, they must follow the music requirements listed under the music section of the WJF Competition rules.

WJF
Extreme
Juggling Competitions
Event 1: Combat Elimination Tournament
Three days of competition will determine the 2008 WJF Combat
Champions in three different events.
1.
Team Combat
Five Members per team
Teams will compete against each other in an elimination
match tournament. Number of teams to beat will be based
upon total team entries. Three out of five sets wins the
match.
2. Royal Rumble
Every man, woman and child for them-self. All entrants will
compete against each other at the same time. A total of
30 rounds will be played over the three day tournament.
The competitor who wins the most royal rumble sets will
win the Combat Royal Rumble Championship. In the event of
a tie, all tied competitors will be recognized for winning
the most rounds, but will then compete against each other
in a sudden death match.
3. One on One Combat
Each competitor will be matched up against other competitors
in an elimination tournament. The best three out of five
sets wins each match. Competitors who win their matches
will go on to compete against competitors who won their
matches until they reach the finals. The competitor who
wins their final match will win the One on One Combat Championship.
2008 Combat Rules
1. No wins by default. If there are three people left and two take each other out, they must then go against each other in one on one. The winner of that match will go up against the third person.
2. No rounds with no winners. If a three on three or royal rumble round ends in a one on one double elimination, those last two competitors will continue in one on one until there is a winner.
3. If two competitors are holding onto the same club and juggling two in one hand each, whoever drops first must immediately and without sabotage, release the
shared club.
4. No suicide bombing. You must be obviously trying to keep your juggling pattern going and not sacrificing yourself to take out another competitor.
Event 2: Five Club Explosion
