COMPETITOR PROFILE
OLGA GALCHENKO Born in Penza, Russia. Now living in Agoura, California
Q: How long have you been juggling?
A: I learned to juggle when I was 6 or 7, so 10 years now.
Q: How did you learn to juggle?
A: I do not remember learning to juggle. I started going to a circus school when I was 7-years-old but there are videos of me juggling before then. I had to have learned from my brother.
Q: Why did you keep juggling?
A:
I probably thought it was cool because my big brother was getting all the attention with his juggling at the circus school. I didn't practice my juggling up to when I was about 10, when my brother and I were expelled from the circus school. After that both of us put our efforts fully into juggling and continued to do so because we recognized it was our only ticket out of Russia.
Q: Why do you want to compete in the WJF competitions?
A: I have taken too long of a break from juggling, it would be nice to get back into the juggling world. And what better way to go a juggling convention than compete?
Q: What are your goals in juggling, technically and professionally?
A: No goals, really. I'll try to not make a fool of myself at the competition, that's all I can ask for after 3 years of not practicing.
Q: What kind of training has been the most beneficial in progressing your juggling skills?
A: Training with Jason Garfield. I am a more well rounded and technical juggler as a result of his training.
Q: What has had the most influence on your juggling?
A: School. I would have been a much better juggler now had I not concentrated on school 3 years ago.
