If I am juggling, practising in a populated area, for the reason of getting better, why not have a hat down and make a bit of change?

No kidding. I can juggle down at the beach for a few hours, have a great time, meet a bunch of people, and improve my juggling every weekend. By putting a hat down, i get all that and walk away with $43 in my pocket. Street perform? People want fire, knives, chainsaws...its just...ignorance i guess. Ever looked at the prices for that stuff? a knife is just as much as a Px3 vegas. Like i said, its my only source of income cause im only 15. On top of that, its much harder when people not only dont take juggling seriously, but they dont take 15 year olds seriously either. What i do is for my own personal enjoyment and practice. Juggling for money (only) is crap to me. If you dont enjoy what you do, dont do it. There is a guy in my neighborhood that makes 80$ for a 20min performance (just off of tips) but i do not respect him because he has not learned a new trick in the last 10 years. being able to do chops with torches isnt the worlds best trick. (at least to me) id rather do 5 normal clubs no matter what the audience is looking for. 3 torch chops wont get me anywhere in the beginners competition? will it Jason? id probably burn the convention center down. Ok end rant. But seriously, i juggle to juggle, not juggle for approval or money. The fact is it makes me feel better when someone says "hope you make it to your competition" and throws in a 5$. Or even the people in their cars giving me silent thumbs up when they drive by. Thats all good to me, but i dont depend on it. I love juggling, not money, not approval. I do it for me. I created the juggling club at my school to...make money? no. ive paid for most of the equipment there and pizza. Im running some BBQ's at parks this summer for everyone who wants to juggle. Not everyone whos lookin to make a buck.

You'd get more money with a "will juggle for food" sign on the exit ramp...

....think that'd work?
